THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has monitored an undetermined number of dead fishes in the vicinity waters off Barangay 61, Cavite City on 13 November 2023.
The Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Cavite said the majority of the dead fishes were initially identified as “tilapia.”
Immediately, the CGSS Cavite reported the incident to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cavite City and Bureau of Fisheries and Acquatic Resources (BFAR) for appropriate action.
At 4:10 PM on 13 November 2023, BFAR personnel conducted area inspection and water sampling to determine the cause of the incident.
Meanwhile, the collected dead fishes were turned over to the garbage collector truck of Cavite City and transported to Material Recovery Facilities for proper disposal.
The PCG National Headquarters directed the CGSS Cavite to continue monitoring and conduct further incident assessment.
