A FINANCE officer of the Philippine National Police on Monday was shot dead in Abulug, Cagayan.

Police Regional Office 2 director Brig. Gen. Steve B. Ludan identified the victim as Maj. Rafael Tangonan of the  Regional Finance Office 2.

Tangonan was driving his white pickup when ambushed by the suspects in front of a hardware store in Abulug municipality 8 p.m. Monday.

The PNP finance officer suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died while being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Ludan said that a regionwide manhunt has been launched against the killers who were last seen fleeing in a brown Toyota Innova wagon.

The suspects were reportedly armed with long firearms.
