A JAIL GUARD and a person deprived of liberty were killed in a shooting incident at the Laguna Provincial Jail in Sta. Cruz, Laguna yesterday.
The victim was identified as Prison Guard 1 Jonathan Sombilla Buenviaje, 50, of Bgy. Maulawin, Pagsanjan, Laguna while the suspect was Romnick Balbaran Estadilla, 32, a PDL.
Laguna Police Provincial Office Director Col. Harold Depositar said Buenviaje was rendering to his duty as jail guard at Dorm 1 when Estadilla suddenly appeared and grab his service firearm.
The prisoner then shot jail guard Buenviaje repeatedly.
The other duty jail guard retaliated and shot Estadilla.
Police are investigating the incident.
