Camp BGen Vicente P Lim- Police Regional Office CALABARZON commemorates today the heroism and sacrifices of the gallant 44 Special Action Force who offered the ultimate sacrifice for the country nine years ago.
The 44 SAF Commando, elite unit of the Philippine National Police stood their ground and fought bravely, notwithstanding the overwhelming firepower and being outnumbered by the terrorist groups in the remote area of Mamasapano, Maguindanao resulting in their untimely deaths.

During the commemoration ceremony, the Deputy Regional Director for Administration, PCOL Aligre L Martinez led the wreath-laying ceremony at the Bantayog ng Bayaning Tagapamayapa, inside the camp. Also, the families of the police officers who were killed in a police operation also offered a wreath of remembrance in memory of the SAF 44 heroes.
PRO CALABARZON Deputy Regional Director for Administration PCOL Aligre L Martinez conveys the Chief PNP’s statement recognizing the valor and commitment of the courageous SAF 44.
“As we gathered here today, let us not only remember the brave men of the SAF 44 but also reflect on the lessons learned from that tragic day. We must recognize the importance of unity, coordination and effective communication in our pursuit of national security. The sacrifices made by our heroes must motivate us to constantly strive for excellence in our duty to protect and serve,” PGen Benjamin C Acorda in his message.
Additionally, Mrs. Herminia Calagui, mother of the late Police Staff Sergeant Bernard Peter A Calagui’s expressed her appreciation for the recognition offered by PRO4A in honor of her son. “Taos pusong pasasalamat sa inyong pagkilala sa kabayanihan ng aking anak. Kung nasaan man sya ngayon ay alam kong binabantayan at ginagabayan nya pa rin ang aming pamilya,” she said.
Also present during the occasion were families of the late Police Staff Sergeant Rodante Madurog Jr., Police Staff Sergeant Bernard Peter A Calagui, and Police Corporal Reniel U Marin all members of PRO 4A who died in 2023 while carrying out their official duties.
