POLICE Regional Office 4A personnel successfully concluded the Mushroom Propagation and Hydroponic Farming Training initiated by the PRO 4A Officers Ladies Club headed by its Adviser, the wife of the PRO 4A Regional Director, Mrs Mary June T Lucas, as part of her advocacy on environmental protection and the “Gulayan sa Kampo” project. This agricultural initiative aims to provide additional income for every personnel and also provide fresh and organic food.
50 personnel from the Police Regional Office CALABARZON successfully completed the Mushroom Propagation and Hydroponic Farming training facilitated by the Regional Community Affairs and Development Division in partnership with the Local Government of Calamba City.
During the activity, Ms. Sally G Quilay, Senior Agriculturist of Calamba City together with representatives from Adhika Group Calamba, a group engaged in community gardening facilitated the lecture and demonstration proper in mushroom and hydroponic farming. In the lecture, selected personnel from the Regional Headquarters were taught how to culture edible mushrooms of different varieties. They were also trained how to make low-cost and low-maintenance hydroponic farming facilities using recycled materials which require minimum budget requirements.
The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates to those who participated in the said training. A plaque of recognition was also given to the guests from the city government of Calamba and Adhika Group Calamba who served as lecturers and trainers.
