THE House of Representatives under the leadership of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Tuesday passed on Second Reading the House Bill (HB) 10289, which seeks to guarantee that end users of internet services enjoy the full value of the data allocation that they paid for.
Principally authored by Rep. Ramon Jolo Revilla, the bill which will be known as as the “Roll-Over Internet Act,” aims to provide consumers with the assurance that their unused data allotment shall not be lost, but shall be carried over to succeeding months, and at the end of the year, be translated as rebates which they may also avail and use.
HB 10289 was sponsored on the floor by Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez and House Committee on Information and Communications Technology chairperson Rep. Tobias “Toby” Tiangco.
Also approved on second reading was HB 10145, which seeks to update the existing law on medical profession in order to develop and nurture competent, ethical and globally competitive physicians.
It also seeks to address the existing and evolving demands of the profession. The bill which shall be known as the “Philippine Medical Act,” is principally authored by Rep. Keith Micah “Atty. Mike” Tan, with Reps. Kristine Alexie Tutor, Ciriaco Gato Jr., and Elizady Co as co-authors.
Gato sponsored the measure at the plenary.
The House of Representatives also approved on second reading HB 10424, which seeks to regulate the operation of motorcycles-for-hire.
1-Rider Party-list Rep. Ramon Rodrigo Gutierrez, who sponsored the bill on behalf of House Committee on Transportation chairperson Romeo Acop, said “the lack of efficient public transportation is the main reason for the proliferation of motorcycle taxis as an alternative mode of moving people.”
Rep. Maria Jamina Katherine Agarao sponsored HB 9873 which would declare December of every year as National Volunteer Month, on the floor, which the House also approved on second reading. Agarao said the bill is in recognition of the dedication and contribution of volunteers in the country.
