By Glen S Ramos

THE Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) has achieved the “Institutionalized Status” in the Performance Governance System (PGS) Pathway conferred by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) during the virtual revalida conducted on January 30, 2023.

R1MC is the first DOH retained-hospital in region 1 to achieve the recognition and the first to complete the final stage of the PGS pathway, thereby earning the coveted “Islands of Good Governance” award.

DOH – Ilocos Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco lauds R1MC for successfully completing its Performance Governance System (PGS) journey. “You have been able to accomplish the needed reforms and achieved milestones along the way despite the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and the transition to the new normal.”

“Organizational reforms and the journey to transformation must begin with every member of an organization in order to attain targets and initiatives for the realization of an objective, and this you have achieved, congratulations to all of you.”

Among R1MC’s initiatives presented during the online revalida was the establishment of their telemedicine program, advancement and promotion of employees, satisfaction survey and retention of healthcare workers, establishment of a yearly praise program for employee’s awards and incentives,

“I commend the entire workforce of R1MC for their steadfast commitment and completion of deliverables toward Institutionalization. The teamwork showed by the various departments, offices and units was indispensable in pursuing and achieving this significant title,” R1MC Medical Center Chief II Joseph Rolando O. Mejia stated,

“We dedicated this success to the people of Pangasinan who are our patrons in our mission of providing quality healthcare. Rest assured that we will continue with the ideals and goals of good governance for the benefit of our patient’s health and well-being,” he said.

R1MC started its PGS Pathway journey in 2019 earning a Gold Trailblazer award during its conferment of the Initiated status given by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA), a non-partisan, non-profit governance reform organization that envisions a Dream Philippines where every government institution delivers and every citizen participates and prospers.

ISA has worked in collaboration with national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), hospitals, and sectoral institutions in hopes of achieving governance breakthroughs.

Pursuant to its mission to provide affordable and quality subspecialty services to its constituents, R1MC prides itself as the “preferred multi-specialty hospital in Northern Luzon by 2024.
