San Pedro City, Laguna – UNOPPOSED and resoundingly supported, Rep. Ann Matibag has officially secured her second term as Representative of Laguna’s 1st District following the 2025 national and local elections.
She expressed her deep gratitude to the people of San Pedro City for their continued trust and confidence.
“To all my beloved supporters in San Pedro City and the 1st District of Laguna—maraming, maraming salamat sa muli ninyong tiwala. You know how much I love our city. As a mother and public servant, my heart will remain with San Pedro for the next three years,” Rep. Matibag said.
In her message, Matibag pledged to amplify her efforts, promising to double—or even triple—the reach and impact of the programs initiated during her first term.
“The programs you’ve experienced and benefited from will be further strengthened and improved. I am committed to making them more effective, inclusive, and deserving of your continued trust,” she emphasized.
A key priority in her second term is the re-filing of a bill that would formally convert Laguna’s 1st District into a Lone District—a move that reflects the current political and demographic realities of the area.
“Technically, our district already stands alone, and it’s time we formalize that through legislation,” she explained. “Due to a backlog of bills, this wasn’t prioritized previously, but I will refile it this July along with 10 other priority bills.”
Among her legislative priorities are:
Clean and Reliable Water Supply – Matibag will file a House resolution addressing the persistent water supply issues in San Pedro City. “Access to clean and regular water has been a problem since I was a child. It’s only worsened over time. Regardless of who’s in office, this is a need that affects every resident, and I’m committed to resolving it,” she said.
Healthcare Access – With the ongoing delays in the construction of a major public hospital, Matibag has partnered with private hospitals to provide free healthcare services to qualified residents. “Health is essential to every family. I’m proud that, through collaboration with private institutions, we’ve opened doors to care while awaiting completion of our own hospital,” she noted.
Flood Mitigation – Citing San Pedro as a catch basin for water runoff from Cavite, Matibag called for coordinated efforts to address recurring flooding. “This is a yearly problem, and we must work together—new leadership, new mandate—to find sustainable solutions.”
Anti-Graft Initiatives – Matibag affirmed that efforts to uphold transparency and fight corruption are well underway. “Our anti-graft measures are moving forward. Good governance will always be a cornerstone of my work,” she stated.
Matibag also thanked her allies and supporters for their solidarity and encouragement.
“I am especially grateful to Governor Sol Aragones for her trust and support. Our shared commitment and continuous coordination—along with the support of my husband, our barangay leaders, and every San Pedrense—make this victory deeply meaningful. The overwhelming vote for our beloved Governor speaks volumes of the unity and hope we share for a brighter future,” she said.
Rep. Matibag enters her second term with renewed passion and a clear mission: to deliver lasting development, strong representation, and compassionate public service for the people of San Pedro and the entire district.
