Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez has directed the immediate mobilization of assistance for the victims and families affected by the tragedy at San Jose National High School.
Following the incident, personnel from the Office of Congressman Martin Romualdez immediately coordinated with hospitals receiving the injured and informed medical authorities that the Office will shoulder the hospital expenses of the affected individuals.
“Our priority is to ensure that the victims receive the medical care they need and that their families do not have to worry about the financial burden during this difficult time,” Romualdez said.
The Office has likewise coordinated with funeral service providers and assured the families of those who lost their lives that funeral expenses will be fully covered.
“No family should have to carry this burden alone. We want the families to focus on grieving and supporting one another while we take care of whatever assistance we can provide,” Romualdez said.
Recognizing the emotional and psychological impact of the tragedy on students, teachers, and the wider school community, the Office has also initiated coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to provide psychosocial intervention and trauma support services.
The Office has already communicated with the DSWD Regional Director regarding the deployment of appropriate assistance and counseling services for students and others affected by the incident.
Romualdez assured the public that assistance efforts will continue in the coming days in close coordination with local government officials, hospitals, schools, and concerned agencies.
“In times of tragedy, we must come together as one community. We will continue to stand beside the victims, their families, and everyone affected as they begin the difficult process of healing and recovery,” he said.
