Hospital closer to becoming top health facility in southern MM
REPRESENTATIVE Camille Villar yesterday led the inauguration and blessing of the drug testing laboratory of the Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center (LPGHSTC), boosting the realization of its goal of becoming the top multi-specialty healthcare facility and trauma center in the south of Metro Manila by 2028.
“Masaya akong maging bahagi ng okasyong ito. I share your pride and joy in celebrating this milestone. With the opening of this drug testing laboratory, we are inching closer to achieving our dream of being the south’s premier health facility, delivering quality and world-class services not only to the residents of Las Piñas but to all Filipinos as well,” said Villar, who is one of the youngest deputy speakers at the House of Representatives.
The establishment of the drug testing laboratory is part of the LPGHSTC’s 2023-2028 development strategy plan. It was proposed during the hospital’s preparations for its accreditation to operate as a Level 3 health facility, which the Department of Health (DOH) approved effective March 2021.
Its design and engineering were carefully planned by the hospital’s engineering department in compliance with the regulatory standards set by the DOH. Its construction started in December 2022 and was finished and turned over to the hospital laboratory department in August 2023. It was issued its Certificate of Accreditation for drug resting last February 27.
“This drug testing laboratory enhances the LPGHSTC’s competency and makes it at par with other government hospitals in relation to the national government’s response to drug abuse issues. Ang tagumpay na ito ay bunga ng inyong sipag at tiyaga. Sa inyong pagtutulungan, kasama ang local government ng Las Piñas at ang inyong lingkod, masisiguro natin ang kalidad na health services para sa ating mga constituents,” said Villar, who is the chief executive offer of ALL Value Group and managing director of Vista Land.
Villar is the primary sponsor of House Bill No. 3314, the measure which was subsequently enacted as Republic Act 11497 on November 13, 2020.
The law authorized and appropriated funds for the upgrade of the professional health care services and facilities of the Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center. RA 11497 also allowed the hospital to increase its bed capacity from 200 to 500 beds.
