
A MOTORCYCLE rider who was flagged down for overspeeding and non-wearing of helmet on Tuesday was arrested for possession of shabu at a checkpoint in Abucay, Bataan.
Suspect Celso Soriano Rubiano was arrested by members of the Abucay police at a checkpoint on the national road in Bgy. Laon, Abucay town.
An investigation showed Rubiano was traveling on a motorcycle when flagged down for overspeeding and driving without a helmet.
Authorities conducted a search and found from the suspect one plastic sachet containing shabu worth at least P50, 000.
The suspect was immediately arrested and sent to jail.
In Mariveles town also in Bataan, joint personnel of the Bataan Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit and the Mariveles police conducted a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Alasasin and arrested suspect Rommel Limboc.
Seized from Limboc were one sling bag containing two large, one medium and five plastic sachets containing shabu weighing around 150 grams worth more than a million pesos.
Both suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. commended his men for a job well done, adding the Central Luzon police is committed to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region.
