A 36-year-old motorcycle rider who was in possession of shabu and illegal gun was arrested by police manning a checkpoint in Masantol, Pampanga last Monday.
Nabbed was Cesario Cabreza, of San Pedro Cutud, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., joint operating teams of the Pampanga 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Masantol Municipal Police Station and Provincial Intelligence Unit Pampanga were conducting a checkpoint operation in Bgy. Bebe Anac in Masantol, where they flagged down the suspect for not wearing a helmet.
While asking for pertinent documents, officers saw in plain view a cal. .38 revolver tucked in the rider’s waist, which resulted to his immediate arrest.
A verification also showed the suspect is tagged as a “high-value” target.
Seized from Cabreza were one cal. .38 revolver loaded with four live ammunition, a knot-tied plastic sachet containing shabu weighing approximately 55 grams valued at P374,000, some P520 in cash and the motorcycle.
“We have been continuously beefing-up our aggressive drive to recover and to seize loose firearms. May this serve as a stern warning to all, especially those who have not yet renewed their licenses or turned over their undocumented firearms in their nearest police stations for safekeeping, that stricter penalties are imposed against violators,” Hidalgo said.
