TACLOBAN CITY — SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Thursday night reaffirmed the unwavering support of over 3 million voters in Eastern Visayas for the senatorial lineup of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s administration-endorsed Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.
“All-out support ang Region 8 para sa Alyansa senatorial slate,” Speaker Romualdez told reporters during an ambush interview at the Region 8 Unity Rally. The event was spearheaded by Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre, in partnership with Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), to promote President Marcos’ chosen senatorial candidates.
The Alyansa slate comprises House Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo, former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Deputy Speaker Camille Villar, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, Senators Bong Revilla, Francis Tolentino, Pia Cayetano and Lito Lapid, former Senators Ping Lacson and Manny Pacquiao and former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
When asked about the number of voters in the region, Romualdez responded, “Over 3 million po dito.”
He also shared that he had communicated with President Marcos regarding the rally.
“Of course sinabi ko naman na andito tayo at nandito ‘yung ibang mga senatoriables at mga representante nila. Alam mo naman si Presidente, hindi lang Ilocano, kalahati ‘yan, Waray,” Speaker Romualdez, Lakas-CMD President and a lawyer from the University of the Philippines (UP), noted.
Speaker Romualdez, Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa) president or the country’s oldest association of legal luminaries, emphasized the significance of delivering a straight win for the Alyansa slate in the region.
“Kaya syempre nagpapasalamat talaga siya, we are working na ma-deliver natin ‘yung ano nya na straight talaga ‘yung Alyansa,” Speaker Romualdez said.
Expressing confidence in the slate’s success, Speaker Romualdez stated, “I’m hoping for it, but we will do everything we can.”
The rally in Tacloban City was attended by thousands of supporters, local officials and community leaders, showcasing the region’s strong backing for the Alyansa candidates.
