San Pablo City, Laguna — IN a landmark initiative to honor the vital role of media in public service, the Social Security System (SSS) Luzon South 1 Division held its first-ever “Media Appreciation Dinner” at the Auravel Grande Hotel and Resort in San Pablo City.
The event gathered media practitioners from across the CALABARZON region—including representatives from radio, print, and online platforms—to recognize their unwavering support in disseminating accurate and timely information about SSS programs and services.
In his keynote address, Engr. Edwin S. Igharas, Vice President of Luzon South 1 Division and Acting Head of Luzon South 2 Division, emphasized the indispensable role of media as partners in reaching out to workers and potential members. “We continue to strengthen the partnership between the media and SSS,” he stated, encouraging more Filipinos to become members and avail themselves of the agency’s wide range of benefits.
The event also featured messages of support and appreciation from Information Officers of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) representing Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon provinces. Their presence underscored the collaborative efforts between government agencies and the media in promoting public awareness and transparency.
Mr. John D. Oblanca, Acting Senior Communications Analyst of SSS, also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the media community. “Your continued support is instrumental in ensuring that our programs reach the people who need them most. Together, we can build a stronger and more informed society,” he said.
To cap off the evening, attendees enjoyed a festive raffle draw and interactive games, adding a joyful and celebratory spirit to the occasion.
