Sto. Tomas, Batangas — IN celebration of Philippine Environment Month, over 100 participants from both the public and private sectors gathered for an Eco Forum held on June 18, 2025, at SM City Sto. Tomas. The event brought together barangay captains, Pollution Control Officers (PCOs), and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) professionals for a unified dialogue on strengthening local environmental initiatives.
The forum was organized in partnership with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO), and received full support from Sto. Tomas Mayor Atty. Arth Jhun Aguilar Marasigan, Vice Mayor Catherine Jaurigue-Perez, and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod. The primary goal of the forum was to deepen awareness, foster stronger collaboration, and ignite collective action among sectors for the protection and preservation of the environment.
Key discussions were led by respected experts in the field of environmental protection, including Mr. Gerardo Carandang of the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA), Engr. Rae Nikka May C. Pablo from the DENR-EMB Region IV-A, and Dr. Diomedes Racelis of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). Topics focused on sustainability, compliance, and actionable strategies for environmental stewardship at the community and organizational levels.
The City ENRO, in its closing message, called on participants to remain actively engaged in the city’s environmental advocacy programs—not only for present needs but also in safeguarding a clean, green, and resilient future for generations to come.
The Eco Forum stands as a testament to Sto. Tomas City’s commitment to inclusive and proactive environmental governance, demonstrating that protecting the environment requires everyone’s voice and effort
