
THE local government unit of Imus in Cavite headed by Mayor Alex Advincula endorsed the use of “bayong” or nipa bag coinciding with the celebration of Earth Day yesterday.
Advincula led the distribution of “bayong” at the Imus Public Market to avoid the use of plastic in the city.
Some 200 pieces of “bayongs” were distributed by Advincula, along with councilor Totie Ropeta, ABC President AJ Sapitan, and chief of staff Jeff Purisima to marketgoers at the Imus Public Market.
The Imus mayor said the “bayong” distribution project will be done by the local government every Saturday in the said market.
Prior to the giving of “bayong,” Advincula also led the clean-up drive in Bgy. Bucandala in celebration of the Earth Day in the country.
He also announced that every barangay should conduct a clean-up campaign every Saturday in their respective barangays.
In General Trias City, as part of the celebration of Earth Day 2023, the College of Engineering, Computer Studies, and Architecture of Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU)-General Trias City campus in Bgy. Manggahan spearheaded a series of clean-up drive activities in several barangays in Trece, Bacoor, Naic, Tanza, and Silang, all in Cavite.
The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage the community to take an active role in preserving and protecting the environment.
Students and faculty members, together with the local barangay officials , joined the clean-up drive.
