
AGENTS of the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested a wanted member of the notorious Maute Group in an anti-terror raid in Masiu, Lanao del Sur.
PNP-CIDG director Maj. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said nabbed was Acmad Casim alias “Batang Criminal.”
Casim was tracked down in his hiding place in Bgy. Lakadun in Masiu municipality.
Operatives of the CIDG Lanao del Sur Provincial Field Unit placed the suspect under arrest on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 issued by Judge Alberto Quinto of the Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte Regional Trial Court.
Two other targets of the raid identified as Aminola Casim and Pandi Dimaocom Mama managed to escape during the operation and are being hunted.
Seized were one Para Ordnance cal. .45 semi-automatic pistol with magazine containing two live ammunition.
Caramat said Casim is also the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Rasad Balindong of the Malabang, Lanao del Sur RTC on September 30, 2014.
The suspects were tagged as members of the Maute Group which was behind the infamous Marawi City Siege in 2017 that left around 1,200 people, including terrorists, security troops and innocent civilians dead.
