AN active communist terror group member in Tarlac and a former rebel in Zambales on Wednesday surrendered to authorities.
The two also surrendered their firearms.
Combined personnel of the Zambales 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and other units facilitated the voluntary surrender of “Ka Bunog,” a former member of the Militiang Bayan.
“Ka Bunog” turned in one 12-gauge improvised shotgun and a 40mm grenade.
In Tarlac, alias “Ka Johnny,” an active CTG member also surrendered to the personnel of 304th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 and other police units, bringing with him one homemade M14 rifle without serial number, 10 pieces of 7.62 bullets, one magazine and a rifle grenade with canister.
“Ka Johnny” has outstanding warrants of arrest for violation of PD 705 (Revised Forestry Code) at the Third Judicial Region, Branch 68 of Camiling , Tarlac and violation of Article 285 (Other Light Threats) at Sta. Ignacia-Mayantoc-San Clemente-San Jose, Third Judicial Region, in Sta. Ignacia Tarlac.
Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said the Central Luzon police are relentless in addressing the counter-insurgency in the region as he encouraged those who are still fighting the government to lay down their arms, cooperate with the government and live a more peaceful life.
