ANTI-DRUGS operatives confiscated from a male claimant more than two kilos of high-grade marijuana or kush worth P3.9 million that came from the United States and arrived at the Port of Clark on April 11.
Nabbed was Jeric Herrera, 27, of Alley F. Telecom Compound, Bgy. 310, Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Herrera yielded one large brown box containing five tin cans with transparent plastic pouches of dried leaves and fruit top suspected as kush weighing at least 2. 378 kilos worth P3,923,700, an identification card, and an airway bill.
Operatives led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon, PDEA-Clark AIU-Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark and the PDEA-National Capital Region launched the controlled delivery operation.
“The package was declared as Teavana Green Herbal Tea. It underwent x-ray and K-9 inspection, which indicated the presence of dangerous drugs,” the PDEA-CL said.
“A physical examination was thereafter conducted that led to the discovery of five transparent plastic pouches containing kush,” it added.
Charges for violation of Section 4 ( importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the arrested suspect.
