2 women crossing highway struck by van, run over by pick-up truck

TWO women on Tuesday were killed after they were hit by a van and ran over by a pick-up truck in Sto. Tomas City, Batangas.
In a report submitted to Sto. Tomas City Police Station chief Lt. Col. John Erick B. Antonio, the victims were identified as Nerissa Pevidal Tan, 60, of Bgy. Banahaw; and Genelyn Recaña Peñaroyo, 51, of Sitio Malusak, Bgy. Manlibunan, both in Sta Cruz, Marinduque.
Tan and Peñaroyo were crossing Maharlika Highway in Bgy. San Miguel, Sto, Tomas City when they were hit by a Hyundai van at 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
Witnesses said the van dragged the victims, who were then ran over by an incoming Toyota Hi-lux pick-up truck .
Tan was rushed by responding Sto. Tomas Cty rescue team to St. Cabrini Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Gil Christopher Aguila while Peñaroyo, who was brought to Laurel Memorial Hospital , was pronounced dead by Dra. Melisa Villanueva.
