The bus that encountered mechanical problem and fell off the bridge in Ternate, Cavite, injuring 31 people, including its driver.
THIRTY-ONE persons, including the driver, were injured when the bus they were riding fell off bridge in Bgy. Sapang, Ternate, Cavite on Sunday.
Among those injured were bus driver Oscar Mamatan, 28, of Pulo 1, San Rafael, Noveleta, Cavite; passenger Karen Faith Aloy, 29, and 29 others whose names were being verified.
Police said all passengers are residents of South Morning View Subdivision, Timalan Balsahan, Naic, Cavite.
The victims were on their way home from an outing in a beach in Ternate when the driver lost control of the vehicle while traversing the downhill portion of the road at Governor’s Drive in Bgy. Sapang past 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The bus slammed into the bridge’s fence then plunged into the 15-feet-deep dry river bed.
Members of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office rushed to the site and brought the victims to San Lorenzo Hospital in Naic and Cavite Municipal Hospital in Maragondon for treatment.
