TINATAYANG nasa 38 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) ang ngayon ay nasa labas na ng bansang Ukraine dahil sa tensiyong nagaganap sa Silangang Europa, ayon ito sa Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ngayong araw ng Biyernes.
“Now there are around 38 OFWs en route to the western border of Ukraine bordering Poland because this is the part where there is no military build-up of Russian forces. So from there, they will be taken to a town before crossing the border to Poland,” ayon kay OWWA chief Hans Leo Cacdac sa isang panayam.
Sinabi rin ni Cacdac kay Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.ang anunsiyo na pumapayag ang Polish government na papasukin ang mga kababayan nating OFW,
NAgbigay naman ng direktiba si Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III na nakikiipagtulungan ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at embahada ng Warsaw sa Poland at iba pa.
NAngangailangan rin ang ibang Pinoy sa Kyiv ng tulong ,dagdag pa ni Cacdac.
“There are about 40 people who still need help but we have been assured that there will be transport from Kyiv to bring our OFWs to safer grounds on the west of border on the Poland side,”ani pa ni Cacdac.
Sa ngayon ay nasa 137 katao ang nasasawi matapos ang utos ni Russian President Vladimir Putin ang pagsasagawa ng military operations sa bansang Ukraine nitong Huwebes.
