
Busuanga, Palawan – LOCAL government officials issued a warning to swimmers and paddlers to be extra careful while swimming in coastal waters as a four-year-old boy died after reportedly being stung by a jellyfish on May 1, 2025.
According to victim’s family, the boy, identified only as Tyler, had been swimming with his cousin when they were allegedly stung. Tyler then suffered a severe reaction, with visible injuries to his wrist and was immediately brought to a medical facility, but efforts to revive him failed.
Health officials from Busuanga said that Jellyfish stings, though often mild, can prove fatal—especially to young children—depending on the species and severity of the sting.
During this season, the coastal waters of Palawan, are often visited by these marine animals.
Busuanga officials are yet to confirm the exact species of the jellyfish suspected to have stung the child. Tourists and visitors are advised to seek the assistance of local authorities before going in the beaches for their health and safety.
