Five persons were killed in a fire caused by an explosion of firecrackers at a house in Laguna on Friday morning.
In a report, the Philippine National Police-Public Information Office (PNP-PIO) identified four of the victims as Leticia Corral, 83; Kenneth Buebo, 24; James Darwin Delluson, 22; and Ryan James Guttierez, 18.
The fifth fatality has yet to be identified.
The incident happened at the victims’ house at GK Village, Sitio Majada in Barangay Canlubang, Calamba City, which was rocked by an explosion at around 11:20 a.m.
The fire reached second alarm before being placed under control by responding firefighters at 12:03 p.m.
The bodies of the victims were found in different locations inside the house.
The Bureau of Fire Protection has initially estimated the cost of damage from the incident at PHP1.4 million.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident amid reports that the house is used in the illegal manufacturing of fireworks for the holiday season. (PNA)
