FIVE women were among the six leftists in Central Luzon who surrendered to the authorities.
Police Regional Office 3 director Jose Hidalgo Jr. on Friday said three former members of the communist terrorist group and three others denounced the communist front organizations.
Hidalgo said the Zambales police facilitated the voluntary surrender of ”Ka Kana” and “Ka Landin.”
“Ka Kana,” 19, a resident of San Marcelino, Zambales, was tricked to join the CTG as she was promised of proper education, which later on became a militaristic training. She was able to escape in the middle of their encounter with government forces.
Alias “Ka Landin,” 50, of Hermosa, Bataan, was influenced by his peers to join the rebel group and was taught of ideologies to overthrow the government.
After several traumatizing encounter with the government, he decided to surrender to authorities and turned over a .30M1, one blasting cap with cord, one three-page map and one bandolier.
In Bulacan, members of the 301st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 facilitated the surrender of “Ka Lupe,” 53, of DRT, Bulacan, and a former member of a rebel group operating in the province. He also handed over one unlicensed home-made shotgun and four live bullets.
Ttwo female former members of Gabriela/Anakpawis in Olongapo City withdrew their support to the rebel group and were given financial assistance and grocery packs.
In Tarlac, a former Bayan Muna member “Elen” also denounced the Reds and turned over a cal. .38 pistol. She joined the organization in 2014 and was involved in recruitment, rallies and other activities against the government.
“We are working double to encourage members of the CTGs and CFOs to pledge allegiance back to the government. Hopefully, more rebels will lay down their arms and reunite and live with their families peacefully,” Hidalgo said.
