FIVE members of the Laguna-Highway Patrol Group4A and three civilians were charged before the Calamba City Prosecutor’s Office over the alleged abduction and killing of a businessman and a car sales agent last December.
Police identified the victims as Camarines Sur trader Jaime Faramil and car salesman Rodrigo Due-a. Jaimie, Jaime’s sister, refused to identify the five accused police officers and the three civilians for security reasons.
She said her family led by her eldest brother Andrew filed kidnapping and serious illegal detention, kidnapping with homicide and violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Law charges against the five HPG men and three civilians before the Calamba City Prosecutor’s Office last Friday.
The five accused HPG men were earlier relieved of their posts and were placed under restrictive custody.Jaime and Rodrigo left Naga City, Camarines Sur on Dec. 26 to buy a Mitsubishi Strada vehicle from Irene de Guzman in Bgy. Timbao, Binan, Laguna.
The last communication they had with their families was on Dec. 29, 2021.Rodrigo was found dead in Tayabas, Quezon the following day while Jaime remains missing.Jaime’s family is offering a P250,000 reward to anyone who could provide information that would lead to his location.
The pickup truck used by the victims was found in Bgy. Toledo, Silang, Cavite on January 3.However, according to the Faramil family, the vehicle, which was under the safekeeping of the Silang police, was seized by HPG-Laguna men.On February 4, armed with a search warrant, operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Quezon raided the impounding area of the HPG-Laguna in Bgy. Paciano Rizal in Calamba and recovered the identification cards of the victims and the salesman’s cellphone.
