OPERATIVES of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group yesterday arrested six Chinese nationals for possession of high-powered weapons and explosives during a raid in Taytay, Rizal.
Nabbed inside 21 Lira St., Meralco Village, Bgy. San Juan in Taytay, Rizal by members of the CIDG National Capital Region Field Unit were five male and a female Chinese.
PNP-CIDG director Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said arrested were David Anthony Tan alias “Andy Tan,” a 39-year-old businessman, Shi Haina, 38; Wang Zhiping, 44; Shi Chunpei, 39; and Xie Junlang, 22; and female Chinese national Wang Shanya,36.
Caramat said that his men raided Tan’s house and warehouse located at Prime Ventures Inc. Compound on 5th Street in Bgy. San Juan on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and RA 9516 or illegal possession of explosives.
The search warrant was issued by Judge Glenda Mendoza-Ramos of the Calamba City Regional Trial Court.
Seized were one fragmentation grenade, a 12-gauge Winchester shotgun, one M-16 automatic rifle with defaced serial numbers, two cal. .45 semi-automatic pistols, one cal. .22 pistol, 61 rounds of assorted live ammunition, five different magazines and a pistol case.
The suspects’ identification cards and passports were also confiscated by the raiding team.
All six were brought to Camp Crame for documentation and filing of criminal charges.
