AN elderly man wanted for 1,487 counts of rape was arrested on Wednesday by the police in his hiding place in Caramoran, Catanduanes.
Suspect Alex Sales, an abaca stripper listed No. 1 Most Wanted Person in Bicol region, was caught on the strength of a warrant for 1,050 counts of statutory rape and 432 counts of rape.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Genie Gapas-Agbada of the Virac, Catanduanes Regional Trial Court.
No bail was recommended.
Members of the local police force, with the help of the Regional Intelligence Unit 5, the Catanduanes Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested the suspect at Purok 1, Bgy. Supang in Caramoran municipality.
The suspect is being held at the Caramoran Municipal Police Station lock-up facility, pending the issuance of an official jail commitment order on him.
