AUTHORITIES are haunting down a Grade 11 student accused of raping a 68-year-old woman in Anilao, Iloilo.
Police said the victim, whose name was withheld, is a resident of Bgy. Medina, Anilao town.
The suspect is a 19-year-old family friend.
An investigation showed before the alleged rape the victim and the suspect, along with friends, had drinks in the house of a common friend.
At 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, the victim said she decided to go home.
The suspect volunteered to take the elderly woman home.
However, upon reaching a thicket of bamboos, the young suspect forcibly undressed and raped the victim before fleeing.
The family discovered the sexual molestation when the elderly woman returned home bleeding from the private part. They rushed her to nearest hospital for treatment.
“Ang sabi daw ng suspect, age doesn’t matter. Natakot ‘yung victim na baka s’ya patayin kaya hindi agad nagsumbong. Kaya lang nakita nun pamilya na dinudugo s’ya, kaya ipinagtapat ang nangyari sa kanya,”Police Executive MSgt. Rubie Hubo, chief of the Women and Children’s Protection Desk of the Anilao Police Station, said.
