SEVEN soldiers died while seven others were injured when their service vehicle rammed a cement truck mixer in Uson, Masbate on Sunday.
Sgt. Bernardino Kyamko Jr., the driver of the Army vehicle; Private 1st Class Elizer Lahoy-lahoy; Private 1st Class Venzelle Gumba; Private 1st Class John Mark Aragon; Private 1st Class Ardie Rabi; and Private 1st Class Christian Badong, all members of the Philippine Army, died on the spot.
Private 1st Class Rodgen Palapar died while undergoing treatment in a hospital.
Police investigator Sgt. Ladislao Jumao-as said the left rear tire of the Army vehicle burst in a rainy weather, causing the vehicle to flip over and crashed into a cement truck mixer parked on the side of the road in Uson town at 9:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Seven other soldiers were injured and are being treated at the hospital.
According to regional army commander Maj. Gen. Alex Luna, the soldiers were on their way back to their detachment after receiving food and other supplies at an army camp while others were returning from an intelligence-gathering mission when they met the accident.
