THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported the back-to-back arrest of two South Korean men tagged by their government as fugitives last September 20.
BI Officer-in-Charge Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado shared the arrest of Nam Sundong, 37, inside a residence in Manuyo Dos, Las Pinas City by elements of their fugitive search unit (FSU).
Nam is reportedly wanted in South Korea for setting up places for gambling in violation of the country’s criminal act. He is likewise the subject of an Interpol red notice following a warrant of arrest issued against him by the Ulsan District Court in 2023.
In a separate operation on the same day, FSU agents arrested Lee Hyunhak, 23-years-old, along Jose Abad Santos Avenue, Clark, Pampanga.
Lee was said to be wanted for drug smuggling, after reportedly conspiring with accomplices to import 480.85 grams of methamphetamine to Korea, in violation of the Republic of Korea’s Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Narcotics Smuggling. The smuggled drugs amounted to 500,000 Korean Won or more than 208 thousand Pesos.
An Interpol Red Notice was also issued earlier this month against Lee after the Busan District Court released a warrant for his arrest.
Both their passports have already been revoked by the Korean government. The duo will remain in the BI’s facility inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig pending their deportation.
