Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region led the provision of health care and medical assistance to 3000 identified beneficiaries in the province of Pangasinan during the “Trabaho at Serbisyong Pangkalusugan Sa Bagong Pilipinas” held at the Dagupan City Astrodome on April 25, 2025.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that medical doctors from various DOH hospitals in the region including Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC), Conrado B. Estrella Regional Trauma Medical Center (CFERTMC), Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMHMC), Ilocos Sur Medical Center (ISMC) have provided various consultation and medical services.
“Me mga screening services din na ginawa gaya ng X-RAY para sa TB, Oral Health Services kasama na ang cleaning, fluoride application at tooth extraction; PHILPEN Screening para sa hypertension, cholesterol at diabetes management, laboratory services, HIV screening, syphilis testing at hearing test,” Sydiongco enumerated.
She emphasized that prioritizing health while seeking for a job is very important to gain success and overall well-being. “Kapag healthy ka, mas focus ka sa lahat ng gagawin mo at makakapagtrabaho ka ng maayos. It will also lead to improved job performance and better mental and emotional health.”
The “Trabaho at Serbisyong Pangkalusugan sa Bagong Pilipinas” is a whole-of-government approach to extend services and assistance to the people.
For beneficiaries who are yet to be enrolled, PhilHealth handled the registration of their IDs including the enrolment in the Konsulta program.
The regional office also provided free wheelchairs, 10 for pedia and 10 for adult, for identified beneficiaries from TUPAD and 4P’s. Oral health kits were also distributed.
A total of 4,120 health services were given various health services including consultation (2200 beneficiaries), dental services (618), laboratory (300), x-ray (5), ECG (10), ultrasound (39), HPV vaccination (100), pneumo (130), and 718 individuals were given free medicines.
Aside from the DOH, other government agencies that provided services were the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) who organized a job fair for job-seekers seeking employment and also extended livelihood project assistance through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program and the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) who distributed financial assistance to members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
In addition to job fairs and medical services, the Department of Agriculture (DA) has created a Kadiwa outlet for the event, providing the public with affordable basic goods.
