THE Province of Capiz has been severely affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Ramil, which caused extensive damage to property and gravely endangered the safety and welfare of Capiznons.
Immediate on-the-ground relief operations were launched by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of National Defense–Office of Civil Defense (DND–OCD). Further relief assistance from various national government agencies is underway, as confirmed by Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo during his visit to the province.
“I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo, Secretary Rex Gatchalian, and OIC Regional Director Joselito Estember for their swift response to the needs of our constituents. Their presence on the ground reflects the President’s hands-on leadership and the administration’s commitment to ensuring that the Province of Capiz receives the necessary aid and assistance for recovery,” said Rep. Howard A. Guintu.
Guintu also commended the unity and dedication of all responders who have been tirelessly assisting affected communities.
“The concerted efforts of our congressional office, local government units, servicemen from the PNP, BFP, and PCG, as well as the DSWD, DND–OCD, DOH, and countless volunteers, have been instrumental in mitigating casualties and providing timely relief to our affected constituents. Their dedication and cooperation in the face of adversity exemplify the true spirit of public service and bayanihan among Capiznons,” Guintu added.
Looking ahead, Rep. Guintu said his office is working closely with the DSWD to extend financial and livelihood assistance to residents whose homes and properties were significantly damaged by the typhoon.
“We are committed to helping our constituents get back on their feet. By providing financial and capital assistance, we aim to support their recovery and help them rebuild their lives after this devastating calamity,” he concluded.
