A NEW wave of accessible healthcare is rolling through Laguna as the Akay ni Sol Partylist officially launched its Mobile Botika initiative in the towns of Los Baños, Pagsanjan, Calauan, and Santa Rosa. The program offers free medicines, medical consultations, and prescriptions—especially to residents with chronic conditions who often face financial and logistical barriers to care.
During the launch, Governor Sol Aragones, shared her vision of building permanent Akay ni Gob Botika in every municipality. “Once the funding is in place, we will begin putting up Botika branches in each town,” she stated.
Joining the event was Mayor Neil Nocon of Los Baños, who expressed his gratitude for bringing the Mobile Botika directly to their community. “We’re thankful that this program has reached Los Baños. Our residents no longer need to travel to other towns just to access free medical services and medicines,” Mayor Nocon said.
Gov. Sol also revealed that she recently reached out to Senator Bong Go to ask for continued support in the area of public health.
“Yesterday, we approached Senator Bong Go, and he assured us that he’s willing to continue helping when it comes to medical needs,” she said.
Emphasizing good service, she also reminded both staff and patients about mutual respect in the delivery of healthcare: “Rude employees are not welcome and patients too.” she said.
This initiative is more than just a mobile pharmacy it’s a lifeline for many Lagunense who cannot afford regular checkups or buy their maintenance medicine. As inflation and unemployment continue to challenge vulnerable communities, programs like this bring not only relief but renewed dignity to patients who have long been waiting for accessible, compassionate healthcare.
For Dondon Raviche of Santa Rosa, a former bus and taxi driver who lost his job due to complications in his eyesight and hypertension, the program offers hope. “This free access to medicine is a big help, especially now that I’m unemployed,” he said.
Allen Manahan of Los Baños, a stroke survivor for seven years, was grateful for his month-long supply of maintenance medicine. “Thank you so much. This will really help me continue my recovery,” he shared.
From the UPLB Forestry area, Rodrigo Laso, a retired UP Police member recently diagnosed with hypertension, was quick to express his appreciation. “Programs like this are a huge help to retirees like me,” he noted.
With mobile health services now reaching more communities, and with growing support from both local and national leaders, Akay ni Sol partylist continues to bring not just medicine but compassion, action, and care to where it’s needed most.
