A MEDICAL helicopter on Wednesday went missing in Palawan.
The medevac flight operated by Philippine Adventist Medical Aviation Services (PAMAS) took off at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Brooke’s Point to pick up a patient at Mangsee Island in Balabac, Palawan.
The medical chopper was expected to arrive at 10:30 a.m. on the same day at Southern Palawan Provincial Hospital in Brooke’s Point, Palawan but never did.
Yesterday, the Philippine Coast Guard said possible debris of missing medical chopper “yellow bee” was sighted by their patrol ship BRP Malabrigo off Palawan waters.
The air ambulance of the was carrying five persons — a pilot, a nurse, a patient, and two other individuals.
Coast Guard District Palawan spokesperson Gretch Mary Acuario said BRP Malabrigo found the debris off Lumbucan Island in Bgy. Mangsee in Balabac.
The PCG said the debris that looked like a gas tank reportedly has “R404A” and “pentafluoroethane” markings on it.
However, the PCG is verifying if the debris is really a part of the missing medevac.
PAMAS’ medical chopper provides free air medical aviation services, medical evacuations, and medical and dental services. It also helps in natural disasters through bringing relief goods, medical teams, and supplies to affected areas.
