
DATU HOFFER, Maguindanao del Sur – An eight-month-old baby girl died while four others were injured in an ambush in this town by unidentified gunmen on Monday night.
Capt. Ramillo Serame, Datu Hoffer municipal police chief, said the mother was carrying the baby in her arms when ambushed together with other family members.
Injured were the baby’s father, Sadam Mamadra Mamasainged, his wife Faira, and two other children, all residents of this town.
Serame said the victims were on board a tricycle driven by Sadam and heading home from a nearby mosque when the ambush occurred.
“As they reached Sitio Bagurot, Bgy. Tuayan Mother, unidentified gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on them at about 7 p.m.,” the official said.
Responding police brought all the victims to the Maguindanao Provincial Hospital.
Serame said a manhunt has been launched against the perpetrators.
Police investigators said the motive of the attack could be “rido” or family feud. (PNA)
