THE Batangas Police Provincial Office launched the Revitalized OPLAN “Checkmate”. This operation aimed at curbing the rise of motorcycle-related crimes in the province. This initiative comes in response to a recent surge in crimes involving motorcycle riders and will target individuals suspected of criminal activity using motorcycles.
Law Enforcement Officers will check for proper documentation and verify the status of vehicles with LTO (Land Transportation Office) and LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board).
While the operation aims to deter crime, the BPPO prioritizes minimizing inconvenience to law-abiding citizens. For those with minor traffic violations, officers will issue temporary permits or citations. Only vehicles with serious infractions will be impounded, following proper procedures with a Technical Inventory Report (TIR) prior impounding while other violations not subject for impounding shall be issued with Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP) or Traffic Citation Tickets whichever is applicable as stated in Republic Act 4136 or Land Transportation Code and Traffic Act.
All undocumented vehicles will be verified with LTO and LTFRB. Afterwhich, impounded vehicles will be turned-over to Batangas Provincial Highway Patrol Team (BHPT) after the operations.
According to Batangas Police Provincial Director PCol. Jacinto Malinao , “These intensified conduct of checkpoint operations is one of our measures to lessen the occurrence of crime involving the use of motorcycle riding suspects. We urge the public for their cooperation and patience during the conduct of these operations, sapagkat dine sa Batangas iisa lang ang gusto ng Pulis Ligtas ka!”.
