THE intensified anti-crime operations by the Police Regional Office 3 in April resulted in the arrest of 2,212 individuals and the confiscation of P10,894,904.80 worth of illegal drugs and P560,456 in bet money in the region.
PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said 711 persons were arrested during the anti-illegal drug operations while 106 most wanted individuals and 629 other wanted persons for various crimes were put behind bars.
Hidalgo added that 766 persons were arrested for illegal gambling.
The Central Luzon top cop also reported that 24 former officers and members of the communist terrorist groups (CTGs) surrendered to the police and local government authorities in the region while 186 supporters denounced the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army.
The surrenderees turned in 22 firearms and 21 explosives.
“These recent accomplishments, particularly in the arrest of fugitives, people involved in illegal drugs, terrorism, and street crimes were the results of the strong support of all local chief executives in the anti-criminality and anti-insurgency campaigns of the PNP-PRO3, together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and members of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict,” Hidalgo said.
