POLICE arrested a public school teacher in a buy-bust operation in Laguna.
In a report to Police Regional Office 4-A director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Laguna Police Provincial Office director Col. Randy Glenn G. Silvio, arrested was John Paul Costa, 39, a teacher from Tagumpay Elementary School in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
Costa, a resident of Purok 4, Bgy. Tagumpay in Sta. Cruz, was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Marcelo H. del Pilar St., Bgy. Poblacion 3 last November 18.
Members of the Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit confiscated from the suspect 16 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 1.9 grams of shabu valued at P13,000, a marked P500 bill, five P100 bills believed to be part of the suspect’s drug proceeds, and a motorcycle.
Authorities said they conducted the entrapment following informations that the accused teacher was doing his job as a mentor by day and a drug peddler by night.
Charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the suspect before the Laguna Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
