THE House of Representatives hosted officials from the public information offices of the Office of the President (OP) and the Senate, as well as personnel from media organizations on Tuesday to finalize media coverage preparations for the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. scheduled on July 22, 2024.
House Press and Public Affairs Bureau (PPAB) Officer-in-Charge Executive Director (OIC-ED) Demetrio Pisco Jr. said the primary objective of the coordination meetings is to ensure the successful media coverage of President’s third SONA.
The SONA is a national event where the President, in compliance with Article VII, Section 23 of the Constitution, comes before the assembled members of the Philippine Congress at the opening of its regular session, to give a report on the national situation, the development agenda for the next 12 months and propose certain legislative measures.
SONAs are traditionally held at the House of Representatives.
Discussed in today’s meeting were the final guidelines governing the coverage of the event.
Attending members of the media, from print, radio, television and online news organizations, also took the opportunity to engage the government officials present to share their concerns to ensure optimal coverage of the SONA.
