THE number of fatalities from super typhoon “Karding” has risen to 10 while eight others are missing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
NDRRMC spokesperson Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro said two additional deaths were reported in Baliuag, Bulacan and Tanay, Rizal.
Alejandro said both victims died from drowning.
Among the fatalities were the five members of a rescue team in San Miguel, Bulacan.
Meanwhile, the number of missing individuals has climbed to eight.
Five of the missing are fishermen from Mercedes, Camarines Norte, two from Antipolo, Rizal, and one from Patanungan.
Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways yesterday estimated typhoon “Karding’s” partial cost of damage to national roads, bridges, and flood-control structures at P135.09 million.
The DPWH said that as of yesterday, the assessment of damage to roads has reached P34.71 million, bridges at P22.39 million, and flood-control structures at P77.99 million.
Damage to infrastructure at the Cordillera Administrative Region is at P19.6 million, Region 2 at P9.11 million, Region 3 at P91.38 million, Region 4-B at P3 million, and Region 6 at P12 million.
