JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla revealed on Friday that the controversial killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo is 99% solved.
Remulla said a “major player” in the killing of Degamo was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
He declined to provide additional information citing ongoing investigations but assured the public that he would divulge any new developments next week.
The Justice Secretary likened the arrest to solving a puzzle, stating that a crucial piece had finally been put in place.
“For the last three weeks, we were on his trail already,” Remulla said, adding that he ordered a manhunt for the person after his name was mentioned in the affidavits of the other suspects already in the custody of the NBI.
“Siya yung pinapahanap namin talaga. We wanted him to be caught, and we were able to focus on that, and I congratulate the NBI for a job well done,” Remulla added.
The killing of Degamo sparked widespread controversy, and the public has been eagerly anticipating any progress in the case.
