PALAYAN CITY – Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario vowed support to the expansion of a local government unit-initiated housing project in this city.
The housing czar made the announcement when he and City Mayor Adrianne Mae “Rianne” Cuevas led the groundbreaking rites for the land development plan of an existing resettlement site of the National Housing Authority catering to informal settler-families at the San Lorenzo Heights in Bgy. Atate.A memorandum of agreement-signing was also held between the DHSUD chief and Mayor Cuevas for the construction of a multi-purpose covered court and daycare center worth P7.3-million.
Another highlight was the ceremonial turn-over of check worth P4.1-million to local contractor R.D. Talens Construction to serve as initial funding for the land development of the proposed two-hectare project.
Del Rosario, a Novo Ecijano who hails from Talavera town, said that the agency provided a total funding of P19 million to ensure that the housing project will be undertaken.
To jumpstart the project, he said they brought with them the project’s mobilization fund worth P4.1-million, whose check was duly-received by Engr. Talens during the ceremony.“Kami ay nandito ngayon to ensure that this project will immediately start and it will be completed on time.
Kahit po election period, wala po tayong prohibition, gagawin nating lahat ang project dito sa Palayan City,” said Del Rosario.Mayor Cuevas said that since becoming the city’s chief executive, it has been her advocacy to provide decent housing for every Palayano. She made sure that this pet project of hers is put up here in Bgy. Atate, adjacent to their farmhouse.
“Siniguro kong dito ko itinabi itong pet project ko sapagkat diyan lang ang aming farm at kung hindi na kami nakapuwesto, gusto ko nandito pa din kami natutulog kapiling sila,” added Cuevas
. The ground-breaking activity came three months after the finalization of an accord between the DHSUD and the Palayan City-LGU, which was held November of last year.
Also taking part in the MOA-signing were DHSUD Regional Office 3 Director Felix Brazil Jr. and HREDRB Director Angel Aguila. Also present were former Palayan City mayor and now-PAG-IBIG Board of Trustees member, Ma. Lorelei “Relly” Fajardo, Vice Mayor Moises Carmona Jr. and Vianne Cuevas, the city mayor’s daughter. Engr. Talens said he was given 90 days to complete the project’s land development.
“Kailangang apurahin, matapos agad ang project dahil eto na ang tag-ulan,” he told this reporter.
