Tayabas City police commander Lt. Col. Noel Divino said Lavado was dismissed from the service in 2018 over a murder case.

It was learned that the victim was among the policemen who testified against dismissed Lt. Col. Mark Joseph Laygo, the then commander of Tayabas City Police Station and his men, Patrolman Robert Legazpi and Cpl. Lonald Sumalpong, who were also dismissed from the police service.

The three were accused over the murder of Christian Gayeta, 21, son of Sariaya, Quezon Mayor Marcelo Gayeta and his bodyguard Christopher Manalo, 38,  in March 2019.
