DOH – Ilocos Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco leads the turn-over and blessing of land ambulances in Tayug and Binalonan in the province of Pangasinan on March 4, 2023 with Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo Antonio M. Albornoz inspecting the installed medical equipment on board the emergency vehicle.
Pangasinan – The Department of Health – Ilocos Region has donated a total of nine (9) land ambulances in the province Pangasinan to provide emergency care to sick or injured patients and provide them the needed transport between hospitals.
“The land ambulances were distributed to rural health units (RHUs) in priority areas of the provinces to increase health services access in the communities as part of the Universal Health Care Program. Ito ay gagamitin bilang prehospital medical care or emergency response vehicle dahil kumpleto ito ng medical equipment upang makapagbigay ng first aid treatment at makakapagbigay ng continuum of care papunta sa mga health facilities,” Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco stated in her message during the turn-over ceremonies held in the town of Tayug on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
“To all the recipients RHUs, I urged you to set aside funds for the maintenance and operation of these land ambulances including a dedicated driver to manage the vehicle.”

The land ambulances are fully equipped with a folding stretcher, nebulizer, portable suction machine, defibrillator, examining light, aneroid sphygmomanometer, scoop stretcher, stethoscopes, non-contact thermometer, blood-glucose meter with strip, resuscitators for infant, pedia and adult; oxygen therapy set; laryngoscopes set; immobilization devices, delivery set and patient transfer monitor.
Among the RHU recipients were Agno, Balungao, Rosales, San Manuel, Santa Maria, Villasis, Urdaneta city health office, local governments of Sison and Tayug.
The ambulances were granted through the initiatives of Pangasinan District Representatives and funded by the DOH Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP).
Sydiongco added that the regional office has distributed a total of seven (7) land ambulances for the province of Ilocos Norte.
The recipients were the districts hospitals of Bangui, Dingras, Piddig and Vintar; Governor Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital (GRBASMH) in Laoag City, Dona Josefa Edralin Marcos District Hospital in the municipality of Marcos and Sarrat RHU.
The 16 land ambulances that were donated are part of the general appropriations act (GAA) of 2022.
