The Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region provided a total of 272 awards to various hospital facilities, health organizations, local government units and barangay health workers federations who provided valuable contribution in the achievement of Kalusugang Pangkalahatan and outstanding performance in the achievement of vaccination targets for Covid-19 during the 2022 Gawad Kalusugan Awards held in Bauang, La Union on December 12, 2022.
“These awardees have selflessly worked hard to achieved the health department’s vision of strengthening primary care services in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of basic health services to enable a more equitable distribution of health programs in the community,” Regional Paula Paz M. Sydiongco stated during her welcome message.
“SA KALUSUGAN, WALANG DAPAT MAIIWANAN”, our aspiration of leaving no one behind when it comes to quality healthcare must be given priority and it is incumbent to us to improve and standardize processes and structure to reduce variation, achieve predictable results, and improve outcomes for patients, healthcare systems, and organizations,” she added.
Among the awards given is the Madaydayaw award which recognizes provinces, government agencies and organizations in the region who participated and supported the regional office’s health programs and activities at the community level; the Palbayani award for commendable performance in the implementation and establishment of health programs and services; the Bannuar Iti Salun-At award for outstanding support and commitment in the implementation of health programs and services of the health department.
Awardees were from this year’s “Gawad Kalusugan” were give plaques of recognition and cash awards amounting from ₱15,000 to ₱100,000.
Guest speaker and newly appointed Undersecretary Eric A. Tayag extended his congratulations and best wishes to the awardees and encouraged everyone to continue their efforts in providing health care services and work for the achievement of “Kalusugang Pangkalahatan” and support the DOH’s Covid-19 vaccination activities.
“Palagi kong sinasabi na vaccine don’t save lives, vaccination does! Kaya tayong lahat as health workers ay magpabakuna at kumpletuhin ang ating mga booster shots. We must be the role models para mahikayat natin ang ating mga kababayan. We will be having another vaccination round next year and I’m counting on all your support to again achieve our targets.”
Tayag also commended the Ilocos Region for accomplishing its Covid-19 vaccination target for 2022.
“Let us continue our collaborative efforts in safeguarding the health of our people,” he concluded.
