DOH leads blessings of new pedia ward, NICU at ITRMC

Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Regional Director Paula Pax M. Sydiongco together with ITRMC medical staff headed by Dr. Unity H. Cortez, Dr. Sheila Apilado-Fe and Norberto G. Prepose, Jr., yesterday led the blessing and ribbon cutting of the two-storey pedia ward and neonatal intensive care unit building at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC). 

THE new ward is a 41-bed capacity unit with various sections that includes adolescent male and female, isolation, newborn, pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), pediatric emergency unit and pediatric outpatient clinic, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), private rooms, respiratory, surgery, and nursery. 

Director Sydiongco said that infants and children will now be treated with more dedicated care and service. “This ward can provide optimum healthcare and safeguard the lives of infants in the crucial stage of development while also providing specialized care to pediatric patients”. 

 The new facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and pediatric intensive care specialists that will oversee the treatment and management of infants and children in the region.
