DOH OPENS UP NEW PATIENT SERVICE BUILDING AND CT SCAN AT ITRMC
THE Department of Health (DOH) inaugurated the completed first phase of the new Patient Support and Administration Building and the new computed tomography (CT) scan of the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) on June 11, 2025 to cater for more patients needing medical service.
The finished section of the five-storey building included the basement (parking area) up to the second floor which will house the offices of the administrative services and the Hospital Operations and Patient Support Service.
DOH Undersecretaries Glenn Mathew Baggao and Achilles Bravo, who led the ribbon cutting said that the facility is essential for delivering efficient and effective healthcare.

“This facility will help manage the flow of patients, resources, and services, ensuring smooth and timely care, especially now that ITRMC has expanded its bed capacity,” Baggao stated in his message.
“In addition, Baggao said that it will also provide assistance to patients in addressing their needs and concerns, and promoting a positive patient experience.
The funds for the first phase of the new Patient Service and Administration Building came from the income of the hospital with a total allocation of Php118,200.00.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco added that the health department is continuously improving its health facilities by strengthening infrastructure, enhancing quality of care, improving access, and promoting health equity.
“And we are witnessing these achievements through investments in physical infrastructure, technological advancements, and workforce development, kasama na dito ang implementation ng improved programs for health including engaging with communities for their health and safety,”
Meanwhile, the newly installed CT scan is located at the third floor of the out-patient building. It was purchased through the DOH Health Facility Enhancement Fund (HFEP) Continuing Appropriation (CONAP) 2024 with a total amount of Php130,000,000.00.
ITRMC Medical Center Chief II Eduardo M. Badua III explained that services for the CT scan is free for admitted patients at the medical center.
“Mas makakatipid na ang ating mg pasyente, dahil meron na tayong karagdagang mga bagong kagamitan dito sa ating hospital. This will significantly improve patient’s access to care, enhances efficiency, and promotes better patient outcomes,” he emphasized.
