DOH Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo M. Albornoz and Ilocos Sur Governor Jeremias C. Singson formally opens the he state-of-the-art medical waste autoclave treatment plant at the Ilocos Sur Provincial Hospital – Gabriela Silang last December 2023.
THE Department of Health Region (DOH) – Ilocos Region together with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur led by Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo M. Albornoz and Governor Jeremias C. Singson formally inaugurated the state-of-the-art medical waste autoclave treatment plant located at the Ilocos Sur Provincial Hospital – Gabriela Silang in Vigan City last month.
The facility will be used to sterilize medical equipment and also as a heat treatment processing unit for hospital wastes such as sharps, gauzes, bandages to destroy microorganisms before disposal.
“It is very important that health facilities maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and care by ensuring the proper and quick disposal of medical wastes to reduce the spread of dangerous infections and diseases,” Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo M. Albornoz stated.
“Napakahalaga po ng facility na ito para ma-reduce ang risks ng human infection sa loob ng ating mga hospitals,” he added.
Albornoz also extended his appreciation to the provincial government of Ilocos Sur for its commitment in improving the health care system of the province and providing quality health care services to its constituents through its 10-Point One Ilocos Sur Agenda.
The medical waste autoclave treatment plant was built through the initiative of the provincial government led by Governor Singson who said that the facility will reduce medical hazardous waste and boost environmental advocacies in the province.
Singson also vowed to provide the best healthcare services to all constituents of Ilocos Sur.
Moreover, the DOH – Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) has turned over 34 ECG machines, 20 defibrillators and 13 anesthesia machines for use of the provincial hospital, district hospitals and Lidlidda Infirmary.
Also, three (3) digital X-ray portables, four (4) Delivery Room lights, fifteen (15) hearing aids were given to the province during last month’s turn-over ceremony held at the Provincial Farmers Livelihood Development Center led by DOH – Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco.

Singson leads the turn-over and blessing of medical equipment to Ilocos Sur Provincial Government to be used by public health facilities in the province held last December 2023 at the Provincial Farmers Livelihood Development Center in Vigan City.
