Health Partners 2023 awardees from Ilocos Region together with DOH Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa during the “Healthy Pilipinas Awards for Partners 2023” on October 27, 2023, held at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City, Manila.
THE Department of Health (DOH) through the Health Promotion Bureau gave recognition this year to four outstanding health partners in the Ilocos Region who implemented interventions that support the Health Promotion Framework Strategy specifically healthy governance, healthy settings, and healthy literacy during the “Healthy Pilipinas Awards for Partners 2023” on October 27, 2023, held at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City, Manila.
“Ang mga organisasyon na ito ay nagbigay ng kani-kanilang suporta upang maipatupad ang mga programa ng DOH and we are grateful for your continuing contributions to uplift the health and well-being of our people,” Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco stated.
“Marami po sa ating mga kababayan ang nakinabang sa mga programang inyong pinangunahan. At sa patuloy nating pagtutulungan we can achieve a “Healthy Pilipinas Kung Saan Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.”
Among the winners were Lacasandile Medical Clinic and Diagnostic Center who received the Gold Award gold award for their entry, the “A-MODEL” Public Health Mission: A— Awareness Campaigns, M—Medical Missions, O—Optical Misison & Oplan Tuli. D—Dental Mission & Blood Donation Drive, E—Environmental Care through Tree Planting, Coastal Clean-up & Plastic Recycling L -Livelihood Programs for PLHIV-TB affected community.
The Black Nazarene Hospital, Inc. was the sole silver awardee for their “Hospital for All Program” and “Ligtas ang May Alam Program”.
Karmelli Clinic and Hospital Corporation for their H4 (Heart Head and Hands for HIV); PHAPCares Foundation for conducting Earthquake Landslide Search and Rescue Orientation Course and Restorative and Oral Health Care Project for Elementary School Children in San Emilio, Ilocos Sur; and The Black Nazarene Hospital, Inc. for their “Partners for Life Program” were the three bronze awardees from the region.
Regional Health Promotion Unit Head, Cheryl M. Buhong also said that the awards recognized the region’s partners in health for their efforts in spearheading the initiatives listed in the seven priority areas such as nutrition and physical activity, environmental health, immunization, substance use, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, and violence and injury prevention under the DOH Health Promotion Framework Strategy (HPFS).
“The HPFS is the roadmap for the conduct of health promotion activities in the communities and also highlights the importance of national and local leadership and governance in health, as well as the need for health partners.”
The “Healthy Pilipinas Awards for Partners 2023” was conducted by DOH and the Galing Pook Foundation to recognize individuals and civil society organizations who enable communities to create and sustain behavior change.
